So this is what I've been doing.

Hey. S'up? You're probably scratching your head and wondering why I would start another blog when I don't write for the first one? Heh heh. Yeah.

See, here's the thing. I haven't been blogging because I learned how to knit.

And I'm obsessed.

Bonkers.

I've got the fever so bad, I don't even watch TV anymore! Well, I mean, the TV is ON. Duh. But I mostly just listen to it, looking up occasionally to see how much time I've got before I simply have to do something else.

A friend in my office taught me how to do it over a weeks' worth of lunch hours in mid-October and by Christmas I'd made 30 dishcloths, about 10 scarf/ear-warmer sets, and one stocking cap. My fingers were too tired to hold a champagne flute on New Year's Eve so I drank out of a dog bowl.

I was totally kidding about the dog bowl but now I'm thinking themed dinner party.

Anyway, yeah, I love knitting. I love the logic in the patterns and am currently attempting to understand charted patterns. I love the textures of all the different yarns. I love the colors! I love that a small number of basic stitches, woven in different combinations, is capable of turning a string into something that is beautiful or fun, but always functional.

I'm still in the very beginning stages of this new passion and I make A LOT of mistakes, but I learn every time I try something new. So yeah, it's kept me from my keyboard and screen but, honestly, I'm totally okay with it.

(For Leslie: Totally worth it.)

Back to my original point: why the new blog? See, my mom, who works in stained glass - you can see her work here, her lamps are stunning, -- shows her work at art/craft shows a couple times a year and has convinced me to join her at the Soulard Market Park Arts and Crafts Fair this summer. I needed a place on the interwebs to house photographs to include with our application and mom immediately thought, blog. So here we are. Welcome to La Vie En Rows, monkeys. Stay tuned for pics, 'k?
